
Snap Circuits teach basic engineering and electronics. Students in 5th grade were able to collaborate together and design a variety of circuits.




Due to the inclement weather, Culpeper County Schools will open 2 hours late today, Monday, March 13, 2023. Essential personnel report on time, all other personnel report 2 hours late.


5th grade students had the privilege of traveling to the Culpeper Technical Education Center today. Each student was able to shadow a high school student in a trade that they selected. They also toured the building and learned more about career choices. Thank you CTEC for being such a great host!


Rising 6th grade students met today with the FTB guidance counselor to learn more about the next step in their education. Students were informed about core classes, elective options, and a variety of extracurricular activities. These Foxes will soon be Blackhawks!


SCA members met today and did a team building activity. In smaller groups, they competed to build the longest paper chain with limited supplies and time. The members quickly realized that if each group combined their chains, they would engineer the longest chain together!


FES March Newsletter



Farmington is proud to announce our Jump Rope Olympians! Students partnered together to count and turn in scores. The students with the most jumps in each grade were awarded the gold, silver and bronze medals. A 5th grader jumped the highest number with 200 consecutive jumps!



Family STEAM night was fun for all ages! Families enjoyed going to a variety of stations doing hands-on science, technology, engineering, art and math activities. A huge thanks to all the staff and volunteers who helped to make this night a success.










Read Across America Week is February 27 - March 3. In recognition of the importance of reading, Farmington is going to have spirit days to celebrate reading & Dr. Seuss!



Kindergarten and 1st grade had a special visitor today. The staff of Eppard Orthodontics brought the Tooth Fairy to visit and educate the students about healthy food choices and good oral hygiene.



It is Virginia Kindness Week! Kindness Week recognizes that simple day-to-day acts of kindness enable our schools, communities, and state to be a kinder, safer, healthier and more inclusive place to live, work, learn and play.


Students are traveling through time learning about influential people in history. Ozobots are small robots that can follow lines and detect colors. These robots (and students) learned about Harriet Tubman, Jackie Robinson, Ruby Bridges, Martin L. King, Jr., and Barack Obama.


Random Act of Kindness Day is February 17th. Farmington's SCA members made this display to help spread the positive message. They also helped to hang posters as we celebrate bold leaders in Black History this month.

To become more aware of the effects of water pollution, students participated in a simulated dolphin autopsy. They made observations, took measurements, and investigated the dolphin's external and internal features. They ultimately concluded that pollution killed the dolphin.

Every month students are recognized for displaying "Fantastic Fox" qualities. Students have been recognized for a wide range of reasons like study habits, good character traits, being a peer role model, and so much more. They are given yard signs to show the whole neighborhood!

This group of 3rd grade students worked together to engineer a Bit:Bot car. A Bit:Bot is a two-wheel drive robot vehicle that is controlled by a micro:bit. Their engineering skills and communication while collaborating where amazing. They are going to continue to work on their driving abilities.

Ozobots! The elementary ITRT's visited our 3rd grade classrooms today. Students learned how to code, engaged the lesson with math and showed perseverance. Way to go, foxes!
